The Boning Knife is typically characterised with a very sharp point and narrow blade and primarily used in the preparation of meats such as poultry, seafood and beef. The boning knives have a blade with a distinct shape that enables the manoeuvring of the blade into tight places to break away cartilage joints and separate meat from the bone. The boning knife is not as thick-bladed as other knives that feature in a chef’s kitchen, the thinner blade makes deeper cutting easier. Boning knives serve a specific purpose; they are not to be used for chopping or cutting through bone.
